Substrate Preparation

With substrate preparation being the most important part of any installation. It will come as a big surprise that there are many tilers, plumbers, joiners, builders and architects out there that don’t have the first idea on how an area should be prepped for tiling. Most don’t even know that there are stringent regulations and British Standards that should be adhered to, to make sure your installation stands the test of time and be covered by your product guarantee’s and warranties.

At SPM Design, we offer a full substrate preparation service or a written guide as to how your specific preparation works should be carried out. All works and guides meet or exceed BS:5385. From wall and floor tiling to wet rooms, balconies and heated floors. We cover them all. Which can assist in making sure your tiler, builder, architect, plumber or joiner follows the guidelines set out and gives you the service and installation you should receive.

Due to the sheer volumeĀ of poor installations and failures that we were asked to look at, repair or replace. We were prompted to provide and offer a preparation service that general builders, architects, plumbers, tilers and home-owners alike could utilise to improve there own installations.
