As an avid runner, I’ve decided to try and raise a little cash for charity, by taking part in the 5×50 Challenge, but setting our sights a little higher. So the challenge is for my wife Fiona and I to run a minimum of 600 km between us over 50 days. We have to run a minimum of 6 km each, per day, for 50 days to achieve this!
Now we’re quite happy to commit a lot of time and effort to do this, so hopefully you peeps out there can sponsor us and raise a little money for Cancer Research UK. So if you happen to come across this site and read this page, then please hit the link and donate a little to help our cause!
Below is a list of links for the very generous peeps that have pledged or donated money to our charity challenge. And a huge thank you from fiona and I. Without your donations, we’re just two peeps running about like idiots!

Day 5/50…. We’ve ran 76km so far after Day 5 of the 5×50 challenge. Help us reach our target and motivate us with a donation. Large or small, everything helps!
Day 17/50…. Neglected this page for a bit, as things are a little hectic just now, but after day 17 of the challenge, we have now ran 231 of our estimated 700 km’s. It’s been tough and the little injury niggles are starting to appear for me and Fiona has a very bruised hip. But despite this, we’re soldiering on with the knowledge that you peeps out there will donate and help us smash our target.
Day 19/50…. Found my run a bit easier today, but Fiona is struggling a bit with her injury and a busy schedule at work, but still running none the less.
Day 21/50…. Well…. after several back shifts and a JD frenzy from me last night, Fiona and I finally finished week three of the 5×50 challenge with a 10k run each. And to make a point, Fiona decided to run it 6 minutes quicker than me! Despite that, we’ve managed to run a total of 297km so far. Which is comparable to seven marathons! and we still have 4 weeks to go of running every day and sweating our asses off and neglecting our kids…. So for all the effort the two of us are putting into this to try and raise a bit of cash for Cancer Research Uk, how about a bit of sponsorship to help motivate us and not make us feel like we’re wasting our time……
And as a side not…. Could the several peeps that are still owe me cash for unpaid football bets just donate it to this instead and ease your tight-ass conscience!
Day 26/50…. well we’ve managed to reach the halfway point in the challenge and I guess it should get easier from here… though I do doubt that! we’ve now ran a total of 370km and looking good for breaking the 700km mark by the end of the challenge. Donations are coming in slowly, but the pledges are being banded about for the end of the challenge, so I guess we have a big payday for Cancer Research UK to look forward to at the end of the challenge!
As ever, Fiona and I are putting loads of effort and time into this, so please help motivate us and help our charity, by donating what you can. Every donation is appreciated, no matter how large or small!
Day 50/50…. well a serious lack of updates on this blog for our charity challenge (though managed to update every day on our Facebook and Twitter accounts). With day 50/50 finally done and dusted, It’s been an interesting challenge, with the odd potential spanner thrown into the works on the way. Fiona and I have managed to run a total of 723km in our 50 days straight of running. Despite Fiona have quite a serious hip injury , both of us getting a horrible cold, buggy runs, abysmal weather, seriously sore and tired legs and the occasional day of really not being arsed!
The biggest challenge for the two of us though, was definitely time! Fiona and I both work full time, have 2 young children to look after and with night shifts and back shifts and life in general thrown into the mix, it has made for some serious time constraints to get out running and clock up the miles. But we persevered, and managed to exceed our planned running total (You can see a log of all our runs here 5×50 log) and at the time of updating this blog, we’ve managed to raise £785 with several planned pledges and donations still to come in. So hopefully we’ll manage to reach our planned £1000 for Cancer Research UK.
We can’t thank everyone who has donated to our cause enough, as without your generous donations, we were just two muppets out running in the rain. So thank you one and all for parting with your hard earned cash and helping us give something to this more than worthy charity. And if you’re reading this and haven’t donated yet, then get your debit card out your pocket and give us your money please!
Many many thanks
Stewart & Fiona……
